Meet Our Previous Dream Big Scholar Winner; Luke Hornby

106-9 Kicks Country and The Tennessee Credit Union would like to congratulate Luke Hornby, from Cookeville High School, as this years Dream Big Scholar winner.

In addition to being an Eagle Scout, Hornby is a Battalion Commander in the JROTC program at Cookeville High School. This is the highest rank that a student may reach in the JROTC program.

During the recent ice storms, Hornby worked 10 hour days assisting with the disaster relief in Crossville.

After high school, Hornby is looking to pursue a career in the armed forces. He would also like to major in history, specifically military history.

Outside of school, Hornby is an active member of his church where he serves as a liturgist.

Congratulations Luke from 106-9 Kicks Country and The Tennessee Credit Union.

The Vols Have A New Home

Kicks Vols Logo 200 wideThe Tennessee Vols have come home to 106-9 Kicks Country, the new home of the Vol Network.

106-9 Kicks Country will serve as the exclusive home for Tennessee Volunteers Football when the season kicks off September 5th in Nashville as the Vols take on Bowling Green.

“Being a member of the Vol Network comes with a tremendous amount of responsibility because of the history dating back to Lindsey Nelson and John Ward,” Stonecom President/General Manager Larry Stone said. “That heritage means a lot to our team and we are proud to be the new home of the Big Orange.”

Stone made the announcement Saturday as part of Cookeville’s 4th of July celebration. The “Voice of the Vols” Bob Kesling and Color Analyst Tim Priest visited live Saturday during the fourth of July festivities to welcome 106-9 Kicks Country to the Vol Network.

“IMG/Vol Network is very excited about 109-9 Kicks Country being the new home for University ofTennessee football in Cookeville, Putnam County and the surrounding area,” IMG/Vol Network General Manager Steve Early said. “We are equally pleased that this new move will unite the entire Vol Network/University of Tennessee radio lineup in the area under the Stonecom Radio Group.”

106-9 Kicks Country will air every Big Orange Football game beginning in September. Each gameday will begin with the legendary “Kickoff Call-In Show” and continue all the way through the final breakdown of a Tennessee victory. Tennessee Mens Basketball, led by new head coach Rick Barnes, will continue to air on Rock 93-7 and the Lady Vols of Head Coach Holly Warlick will air on Cookeville’s News Talk 100.9, both sister stations to 106-9 Kicks Country.

The Vol Network sought to make a move in the Upper Cumberland just as Head Coach Butch Jones gets the Vols back into the national football conversation. Multiple outlets have picked the Vols in the pre-season top 25, some calling Tennessee a dark horse contender for the SEC East title.

106-9 Kicks Country plans extensive Tennessee Football coverage in 2015 beyond the game broadcasts as well as ticket giveaways and special events. In addition, Rock 93-7 will bring Big Orange fans a second season of “Coach To Coach” featuring former Tennessee Head Coach Phillip Fulmer and former Tennessee Defensive Coordinator Doug Mathews. The show, produced inCookeville and airing statewide, offers fans coaching insight from two men who shared an office inKnoxville during the Johnny Majors era. Coach to Coach airs each Saturday morning at 10 during football season.

Rock 93-7 will also air the weekly “Vol Calls” throughout the year as well as the Sunday afternoon breakdown of the game “The Nation.”

“This talented staff has been a wonderful partner over the last few years as the affiliate for UT men’s and women’s basketball along with our weekly seasonal radio shows,” Vol Network Associate General Manager Glenn Thackston said. “Based on that relationship and experience we are very confident in the first-class manner they will service, support and promote the Tennessee Volunteers to the many UT fans and alumni in Middle Tennessee that their stations reach. They have been and will be a fantastic partner and it’s a great time for our brands and programming to come together.”

Stonecom owns and operates 106-9 Kicks Country, Lite Rock 95.9, Rock 93-7, and Cookeville’s News Talk 100.9/AM 1600, serving the entire Upper Cumberland region. Find out more about Tennessee Football on 106-9 Kicks Country at 1069KicksCountry.Com.
