Would You Rather Give Up Your Internet Connection . . . Or a Finger?

Time to test out just how addicted you are to the Internet.

A new survey asked people what they’d rather give up: Their Internet connection . . . or a FINGER. And 29% went with the finger.

Your first instinct is probably, “Are they crazy?” But think about it. If I was going to completely cut off your Internet, wouldn’t you at least consider letting me cut off your pinky instead?

Only 46% of people in the survey said they’d definitely get rid of their Internet access . . . 25% were undecided.

Find Out What Your Name Would Be If You Were Born Today

“Time” magazine has a new feature that’s pretty cool. It figures out what you’d be named if you were born TODAY. And no, it doesn’t just spit out “Emma” for women and “Aiden, Brayden, or Jaden” for men.

Here’s how it works. It looks up the popularity of your name from the year you were born, then shows you what name is currently ranked in that spot today.

So if you were born in 1977 and your name is Benjamin, that was the 29th most popular name that year. If your parents gave you the 29th most popular name TODAY, it would be Christopher.

It also shows you what your name would’ve been in other decades. So you would’ve been Luis in the 2000s . . . Travis in the 1990s . . . Carl in the 1950s . . . Theodore in the 1910s . . . Elmer in the 1900s . . . and, coincidentally, Benjamin in the 1890s.

Which Jobs Are Most Likely To Drive You To Drink?

It’s Monday. If you’re already drunk, this story is for you.

The government just released data on which jobs have the highest percentage of people who drink heavily and get high.

The five jobs with the highest concentrations of heavy drinkers are: Mining . . . construction . . . hotels and restaurants . . . arts and entertainment . . . and utilities.

The five with the most drug users are: Hotels and restaurants . . . arts and entertainment . . . management . . . information . . . and construction.

One last thing: There’s no data on how many people were already big drinkers or drug users BEFORE they started their jobs, and how many started using because of their jobs.

So we don’t know if working at a hotel drives you to drink . . . or if drinking makes you want to work at a hotel.

Your Beard Might Be as Dirty as a Toilet

There’s a fine line between looking like a rad hipster and walking around with a toilet on your face.

A TV station in Albuquerque, New Mexico wanted to find out just how filthy things are in men’s beards. So they hired a lab to take swabs from different guys’ facial hair and test them out.

And they found that some of the beards were fine and safe . . . but some of them contained the same nasty fecal matter you’d find in a dirty toilet.

Now . . . just having those germs in your beard won’t make you sick. But let’s say you touch your beard, then eat without washing your hands . . . THAT could put you at risk. So be careful when you stroke your manly facial hair.

A Trick That Supposedly Makes You Fall Asleep in Under a Minute

I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat…….. Sorry…. took a little nap. But for those of you who have problems sleeping this might help you out.

It’s the “4-7-8” exercise.  Supposedly it can help you fall asleep in under a minute.  Here are the five steps you have to do . . .

1.  Press the tip of your tongue behind your top front teeth, and keep it there the entire time.  It’s a yoga breathing trick.

2.  Exhale through your mouth, and make a whooshing sound while you do it.

3.  Close your mouth and breathe in slowly through your nose for four seconds.

4.  Hold your breath for seven seconds.

5.  Slowly exhale through your mouth for eight seconds, and make the whooshing sound again.

Then repeat the whole thing three more times.  So basically, you breathe in through your nose for four seconds . . . hold your breath for seven . . . and breathe out through your mouth for eight seconds.  That’s why it’s called the “4-7-8” exercise.

Breathing in for four seconds helps you take in more oxygen . . . holding your breath gives it a little more time to absorb into your bloodstream . . . and breathing out slowly for eight seconds slows your heart rate down.

Good-Looking Men Get Fewer Job Offers Because They Intimidate Bosses?

Tell me about it! #thestruggleisreal

A new study out of the University of Maryland found handsome guys are less likely than the rest of us trolls to get job offers . . . because they intimidate their potential bosses.

Both men and women were more reluctant to hire a good-looking guy, because they automatically assumed he was more competent and ambitious than someone less attractive . . . so they viewed him as competition.

Weirdly enough, the same effect didn’t happen with good-looking women . . . they were just as likely to get hired as unattractive women.
