Dailey Bailey: A Study Finds Victoria’s Secret Perfume Is Actually a Mosquito Repellent

If you wear perfume, in theory it’s because you want to attract people. So here’s a good and totally random side effect . . . while it’s luring dudes in, it just might be keeping mosquitoes away.

A new study out of New Mexico State University tested a bunch of different types of mosquito repellents to see how effective they are.

And they also decided to throw in a Victoria’s Secret perfume called Bombshell for some reason. Well, the reason is probably publicity, and since we’re talking about it . . . well played, nerds.

The study found the perfume was actually really good at keeping mosquitoes away.

It performed about the same as the best repellents, all of which contain a chemical compound called deet . . . and it was even more effective than natural repellents or a skin patch. The skin patch was so bad it actually attracted mosquitoes.

The researchers didn’t say why the perfume was so effective . . . but you’d have to think it’s because mosquitoes hunt out people who smell like people, not like flowers.

Dailey Bailey: The End Is Near…You Can Buy a Clip-On Man Bun For Just $10

There are two types of men in the world: Guys with man buns, and guys who make fun of guys with man buns.

But apparently there’s a third group: Men without a man bun who secretly wish they had one . . . but don’t have the long, flowing hair to pull it off.

man bun1If you’re one of those guys, rejoice . . . you can now buy a clip-on man bun. Groupon is selling them for the extraordinarily reasonable price of just $9.99.

They come in three colors: Blonde, brown, and black. You attach them to your hair using bobby pins.

They look pretty similar to the fake hair buns they sell for women. In fact, they might just be the same product in different packaging. But if you’re the kind of guy who’s even thinking about this, that probably won’t stop you.

It’s too late to change your life in 2015. But 2016? That’s the year when you’re finally gonna do it, man. That’s the year.

According to a new survey, 71% of people have already planned out their New Year’s resolutions.

The most common plan is . . . losing weight. 52% of people say they plan on resolving to drop pounds in 2015. But until then, I guess there are still two months of gorging time available?

18% of people plan to make a resolution to work out more, and 15% plan to curb their stress and anxiety.

Not surprisingly, only 11% of people surveyed think they’ll end up sticking with their resolutions. More than two-thirds of people who’ve made resolutions in the past say they abandoned their plans before the end of January.

Dailey Bailey: You’ll Spend Almost $1,500 on the Holidays This Year . . . and Only a Third Is For Gifts

Hope you’re saving money, because Christmas is going to do its best to bankrupt you this year.

A new study by the consulting company Deloitte found the average person will spend almost $1,500 on the holidays this year. Here’s how that breaks down . . .

$487 on gifts.

$348 going to holiday parties.

$212 hosting holiday parties.

$182 on clothing for yourself or your family that ISN’T a gift.

$124 on decorations.

And $110 on random other expenses.

That’s a total of $1,463 . . . so only one-third is going toward gifts.

And that total doesn’t include things you buy for yourself. Half of people say they plan on getting themselves a gift or two while they’re shopping.

Dailey Bailey: The Average Kid Stalls for 19 Minutes When You Try to Put Them to Bed . . . Here Are Their Seven Techniques

Kids are unbelievably good at stalling when you’re trying to put them to bed.

A new survey by Netflix found the average kid manages to get 19 minutes and 18 seconds of more time after their parents start trying to put them to bed. That’s almost two full minutes more than the average kid in other countries.

66% of kids in the U.S. use stalling methods to stay awake longer, versus 61% of kids elsewhere. Here are their top seven techniques . . .

1. Negotiating to stay up longer, which kills time in the process.

2. Saying they’re so hungry or thirsty.

3. Flattering you.

4. Moving as slowly as possible.

5. Trying to trick you into letting them stay up.

6. Pretending they forgot it’s time to go to bed

7. Getting naked in protest.

Dailey Bailey: Raking Leaves Is Bad For the Environment

The National Wildlife Federation just gave your teenager the perfect excuse to not rake the leaves in your yard this year. Apparently it kills the environment.

They posted an article on their website in September called “Why You Should Leave the Leaves”. And now it’s going viral.

Basically, leaves create mini ecosystems, and they’re used as shelter, food, and nesting material for things like birds, chipmunks, and butterflies.

Also, roughly 33 million tons of leaves and other debris from yards end up in landfills each year. And when they’re bagged up, they don’t get enough oxygen to decompose, and the methane they create contributes to climate change.

Not raking them up can kill your grass though. So if you’re worried about your yard, they say to turn them into compost, or go over them with a mulching mower so they’ll be absorbed back into the soil.

You’d still effectively be rendering helpless chipmunks and butterflies homeless that way though. So another suggestion they came up with is to use them with sticks to build shelters for small animals to live in.

Dailey Bailey: Going Out to Lunch Every Day Is Costing You $2,500 a Year

Going out to lunch might be the only thing that keeps you sane at work. But you’d save a lot of money if you started bringing your food . . . or stealing other people’s lunches.

A new survey by Visa found that the average person spends $11 when they go out for lunch. That’s $55 a week . . . and more than $2,500 a year.

And people who bring their lunch to work spend $6.30 a day. That would save $23.50 a week, and at least $1,100 a year.

The average person goes out to lunch twice a week, and packs something or eats at home the rest of the week.

The survey also found men are more likely to go out to lunch than women, and spend about 60% more on their food.

And finally, 1% of people spend an average of $50 a DAY on lunch.
