Everyone knows Americans don’t take vacations . . . at least not like those lazy Europeans. But do we even want more time off?
A new survey asked people which they’d want more: A $20,000 raise, or an extra four weeks of vacation?
And the top answer by a giant margin is . . . we want the raise. 66% of people would take the money, versus 32% who’d take the extra time off.
Those percentages were consistent no matter how much people make. Even three out of five people making six figures would still pick the raise over vacation time.
And only 34% of us realize that America is the only first world country that doesn’t guarantee paid vacation time.
The survey also found that 55% of us check our work email even when we’re on a trip.
And only 6% of people say it would be worth being French just to get the entire summer off.
