Comprehensive Pain Specialists recently announced that 21 of their clinics across the state will close at the end of July, inlcuding one in Cookeville. Director Barbara Kanapel and Regional Overdose Prevention Specialist Suzanne Angel work with the Smith County Drug Prevention Coalition. According to the National Council on Aging approximately 1 in 10 Americans aged 60 and over have experienced some form of elder abuse. Melody Miller and April Hibdon are the co-chairs for the Upper Cumberland Adult Abuse Coalition. They works with various agencies and groups to help report abuse when they can, and assist where needed.
