Getting kids medically prepared for school is on the to-do list of a lot of Upper Cumberland parents this weekend. Immunizations up to date? We have information to help you. From the coordinated school health departments of the Warren, Overton, and Putnam County Schools. Melanie Bussell represents the Putnam County Schools, Shannon Railling is from Warren County, and Jenny Smith works in the Overton County Schools.

We explore that topic with Marilyn Mullinix of Progressive Savings Bank, and high school counselors Julie Smith and Lori Strode – they serve at Cookeville High School.

A three time letter winner at Tennessee Tech, Dewayne Alexander wants to be coaching on this campus, and he wants to be in this area. It shows on his resume from playing and coaching at Tech to leading the football program in Jackson County, or the entire athletic program at Upperman. Dewayne Alexander is about this area, and a true purple and gold belief that football can be successful on the Tennessee Tech campus.

But there is an organization in our state looking to address rural health issues. Issues specific to our way of life. The Rural Health Association of Tennessee advocates on behalf of citizens and those in the profession. Rebecca Jolley serves as Executive Director.

This week, meet Cookeville High’s new principal Today In The Upper Cumberland.

When students return to Cookeville High School in a few weeks, they will be greeted by a new man in charge. Max Petett comes to Cookeville from across the border in southern Kentucky at Monroe County High School. He will look to bring stability to the principal spot at one of the state’s largest high schools.

But SeedFork is more, growing in new and different ways, bringing together those who believe in local food. Rodney Laulo is one of the leaders of that move.
