I’ll say this . . . the new phrases on conversation hearts candies for this Valentine’s Day aren’t as cringeworthy as usual. They don’t feel like an old guy’s best guess at what the kids are sayin’.
And that’s because this year, they went directly to the kids to find out what they’re actually sayin’.
Sweethearts ran a contest this year where kids could submit suggestions for new phrases on conversation hearts . . . and they picked three phrases directly from kids. Each of the kids who submitted a winning phrase got $1,000.
The three new phrases from kids are: “GIRL POWER” . . . “PUGS & KITTENS” . . . and “LUV 2 DANCE.”
The five other new conversation hearts for 2015 are: “BFF” . . . “TE AMO,” which is “I love you” in Spanish . . . “JE T’AIME,” which is “I love you” in French . . . a picture of a smiley face . . . and a picture of a handlebar mustache.
