Maybe you got scared during those few months when Twinkies disappeared from the shelves and you thought, “I never want to live in a world without Twinkies again”? If so, this MIGHT be a better option than hoarding boxes of ’em.
It also might just be a giant waste of $19.
There’s a product on sale on Amazon right now called the Smart Planet Hostess Twinkies Maker. It looks like a waffle iron, only instead of a waffle pattern inside, it has six narrow, oval-shaped holes.
And yes, the only thing it does is let you make homemade knockoff Twinkies.
The reviews are very split. It’s got a decent amount of five-star ratings . . . but also quite a few with one star . . . and even some of the rare three-star ratings which means someone actually has an opinion to share and not just a knee-jerk extreme reaction.
One three-star review says, quote, “The directions are very contradictory . . . the pastry bag that comes with it is thin and smells funny . . . all in all, it’s an okay little machine.”
If you want one, they sell for about $19 and there are plenty in stock . . . just search for “Hostess Twinkies maker” on Amazon.
