House Republicans nominate Steve Scalise as next speaker

Following Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s historic ouster last week as House speaker, House Republicans on Wednesday nominated House Majority Leader Steve Scalise to replace him. However, Scalise still needs enough votes from the full House to secure the position. Source
