“Fat Leonard” makes first court appearance after extradition from Venezuela

Former fugitive Leonard Francis, who goes by the nickname “Fat Leonard,” on Thursday made his first appearance in a U.S. courtroom since he was extradited from Venezuela as part of a prisoner exchange that also saw 10 other Americans released. Francis had pled guilty to masterminding a bribery scheme involving Navy officers, but he escaped the U.S. while awaiting sentencing. Source
