Dailey Bailey: The Top Five Reasons People Turn Down Marriage Proposals

You’d like to think that when you propose to someone, they’ll say yes. Especially if you do it on the Jumbotron in front of a stadium full of people . . . that’s every woman’s dream. But it doesn’t always go down that way . . .

A new survey of 2,144 people who’ve turned down marriage proposals asked them why they said no. These are the top five reasons . . .

1. An unromantic setting for the proposal.

2. A bad ring.

3. Bad wording on the proposal.

4. No faith in the relationship.

5. Being scared of the commitment.

It’s worth noticing there that the top three rejection reasons are all related to the proposal itself, and not the status of the actual relationship. So apparently even a good relationship can have a busted proposal.

The survey also found that 39% of people rejected a public proposal . . . and the average number of people who witnessed them reject the proposal was 35.
