1. James Dean. He was nominated for Best Actor for “East of Eden” and “Giant”.
2. Harrison Ford. He got a Best Actor nomination for “Witness” . . . that’s it.
3. Mia Farrow. She’s never been nominated.
4. Samuel L. Jackson. He got a Best Supporting Actor nomination for “Pulp Fiction”.
5. Marilyn Monroe. She was never nominated.
6. Gary Oldman. He was up for Best Actor for “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”.
7. Alan Rickman. He was never nominated.
8. Ridley Scott. He got Best Director nominations for “Thelma and Louise”, “Gladiator”, and “Black Hawk Down”. He’s also up for Best Picture for “The Martian” this year, because he was one of the producers.
9. Will Smith. He got Best Actor nods for “Ali” and “The Pursuit of Happyness”.
10. Robert Downey Jr. He’s been nominated for “Chaplin” and “Tropic Thunder”.
I also saw a list recently of the most nominated actors who’ve never won, including Glenn Close, Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Johnny Depp, Sigourney Weaver, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Norton, Nick Nolte, and Kirk Douglas.
