A Trick That Supposedly Makes You Fall Asleep in Under a Minute

I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat…….. Sorry…. took a little nap. But for those of you who have problems sleeping this might help you out.

It’s the “4-7-8” exercise.  Supposedly it can help you fall asleep in under a minute.  Here are the five steps you have to do . . .

1.  Press the tip of your tongue behind your top front teeth, and keep it there the entire time.  It’s a yoga breathing trick.

2.  Exhale through your mouth, and make a whooshing sound while you do it.

3.  Close your mouth and breathe in slowly through your nose for four seconds.

4.  Hold your breath for seven seconds.

5.  Slowly exhale through your mouth for eight seconds, and make the whooshing sound again.

Then repeat the whole thing three more times.  So basically, you breathe in through your nose for four seconds . . . hold your breath for seven . . . and breathe out through your mouth for eight seconds.  That’s why it’s called the “4-7-8” exercise.

Breathing in for four seconds helps you take in more oxygen . . . holding your breath gives it a little more time to absorb into your bloodstream . . . and breathing out slowly for eight seconds slows your heart rate down.

Good-Looking Men Get Fewer Job Offers Because They Intimidate Bosses?

Tell me about it! #thestruggleisreal

A new study out of the University of Maryland found handsome guys are less likely than the rest of us trolls to get job offers . . . because they intimidate their potential bosses.

Both men and women were more reluctant to hire a good-looking guy, because they automatically assumed he was more competent and ambitious than someone less attractive . . . so they viewed him as competition.

Weirdly enough, the same effect didn’t happen with good-looking women . . . they were just as likely to get hired as unattractive women.

How To Play Matchmaker

What is it about spring weather that makes people in relationships want to help everyone they know that’s single find love? If you are constantly trying to play matchmaker to your friends, but they are unwilling to jump on board, you could be going about it all wrong.

If you really think you know two people who might hit it off, here’s how to set them up without setting off their tempers:

Don’t ambush them: Inviting your single girlfriend out for a fun night of drinks and girl talk only to … oops! … run into that cute single guy your boyfriend roomed with in college is not cool. It puts everyone on the spot and the pressure will make for an awkward night.

Be honest: No one is perfect so don’t build someone up to an unattainable standard. That person will inevitably fall short and you may have ruined something before it even had a chance to bloom.

Show them pictures of each other before setting them up: An important part of any relationship is attraction!

Introduce them and then back off: They don’t need a babysitter or a chaperon just because you introduced them. You are not entitled to more details because you made a successful match.

Stupid Product of the Day: The Home Twinkie Maker

Maybe you got scared during those few months when Twinkies disappeared from the shelves and you thought, “I never want to live in a world without Twinkies again”? If so, this MIGHT be a better option than hoarding boxes of ’em.

It also might just be a giant waste of $19.

There’s a product on sale on Amazon right now called the Smart Planet Hostess Twinkies Maker. It looks like a waffle iron, only instead of a waffle pattern inside, it has six narrow, oval-shaped holes.

And yes, the only thing it does is let you make homemade knockoff Twinkies.

twinkieThe reviews are very split. It’s got a decent amount of five-star ratings . . . but also quite a few with one star . . . and even some of the rare three-star ratings which means someone actually has an opinion to share and not just a knee-jerk extreme reaction.

One three-star review says, quote, “The directions are very contradictory . . . the pastry bag that comes with it is thin and smells funny . . . all in all, it’s an okay little machine.”

If you want one, they sell for about $19 and there are plenty in stock . . . just search for “Hostess Twinkies maker” on Amazon.
