Today In Upper Cumberland Podcast: Eclipse Time

The Upper Cumberland will have one of the best views in the nation for the coming solar eclipse. The August 21 event is one that Tennessee Tech Professor Dr. Stephen Robinson, Chairperson in the Physics Department, has been looking forward to for some time.

To call the eclipse a once in a lifetime event…does not do it justice. And it’s an event not just for the science-minded among us. Dr. Robinson explains what we will experience and how it all comes about.

Today In Upper Cumberland Podcast: Broadband Access

Expanding broadband access has been a statewide focus so far in 2017. The Legislature has already approved money to help the entire state grow its access to high speed internet. The Upper Cumberland Development District identified this as an issue that needed to be addressed in our area during its 2015 review.

The good news: we, as a region, are in good shape. That’s according to Megan Farris Choate. She serves as Assistant Director of Economic and Community Development for UCDD. She says the way local government and agencies see broadband as an economic tool….takes many shapes.

Jason And Tony: New Ken Dolls With Man Buns, Cornrows, Dad Bods, and More

Barbie’s gotten thousands of different looks over the years, but Ken has basically always looked the same. That all just changed big time. Except, you know, down there.

Mattel just announced they’re rolling out a huge variety of new Ken dolls. There are seven different skin tones, three different body types, and nine hairstyles.

The body types are regular, slender, and, quote, “broad.” Basically, that’s a “dad bod,” although from the pictures, he’s really not that broad.

The hairstyles are getting the most attention though, mainly because one of them is a Man Bun!! The other one that’s pretty unexpected is corn rows . . . but no one’s really talking about that, because everyone’s focused on that man bun.

Ten of these new Kens hit stores yesterday, and five more are going to roll out over the next few months.

Jason And Tony: The Latest Stupid Jeans For Sale Ain’t Got No Crotch

It’s been a weird year for jeans. Companies have sold $425 jeans pre-stained with mud . . . ones that are totally see-through . . . ones with detachable legs that convert to jorts . . . and ones that reveal an adjustable amount of butt crack.

And the newest stupid jeans are . . . TOTALLY CROTCHLESS. A French company called Y/Project made jeans that are basically a denim belt with a few straps that attach to the legs . . . so your entire pelvic region is completely uncovered.

And they can be yours for $570. Please don’t buy them.
