Two major storm systems close in on Florida and N.C.

A powerful weather system is barreling toward Florida’s Gulf Coast. Tropical Depression Nine is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm Wednesday. It could become a hurricane before making landfall Thursday. At the same time, a second depression threatens parts of North Carolina. Omar Villafranca reports from Clearwater, Florida. Source

Heavy fighting on the Turkey-Syria border

There was more heavy fighting Monday along the Turkey-Syria border. After an easy victory against ISIS, Turkish forces and U.S.-backed Syrian rebels headed further south to take on Kurdish fighters, also allies with the U.S. Turkey views the Kurdish group as terrorists. LAX chaos comes ends after security scare

More than 280 flights were delayed Sunday night and at least 27 were diverted over a security scare at Los Angeles International Airport. It turned out to be a false alarm, but panic spread like wildfire through the airport as well as on social media. Mireya Villarreal reports. Source

Chicago’s most violent month in 20 years

Chicago leaders are calling for change after more gun violence plagued the city this past weekend. Two men arrested in the shooting death of Nykea Aldridge, a cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade, had each been convicted of gun charges. One was released from prison less than two weeks ago.
