A powerful weather system is barreling toward Florida’s Gulf Coast. Tropical Depression Nine is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm Wednesday. Heavy fighting on the Turkey-Syria border
There was more heavy fighting Monday along the Turkey-Syria border. After an easy victory against ISIS, Turkish forces and U.S.-backed Syrian rebels headed further south to take on Kurdish fighters, also allies with the U.S. Turkey views the Kurdish group as terrorists. LAX chaos comes ends after security scare

Chicago’s most violent month in 20 years
Chicago leaders are calling for change after more gun violence plagued the city this past weekend. Two men arrested in the shooting death of Nykea Aldridge, a cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade, had each been convicted of gun charges. One was released from prison less than two weeks ago.
