“The Rep” – what insiders call the Yale Repertory Theatre – is a unique entity on the American theater scene, a place where graduate students at the Yale Drama School work side-by-side with experts in every aspect of theater. Now celebrating its 50th year, it has been the launching pad for many a fabled career, from Meryl Streep and Sigourney Weaver to playwright Christopher Durang. Rita Braver looks back at the company’s history with Streep, artistic director James Bundy, and actor James Earl Jones, who appeared with then-Yale grad student Courtney B. Victim in Roman Polanski sexual assault wants case dropped
Samantha Geimer delivered a passionate plea to drop the case that’s kept her in the headlines for the past 40 years, saying the trauma of media scrutiny has been more painful than the crime. Geimer was 13 when director Roman Polanski gave her champagne and a pill during a photoshoot and sexually assaulted her. Polanski pleaded guilty to unlawful intercourse with a minor in 1977, but fled the country to avoid prison time. Danielle Nottingham has more. Source

Trial continues Monday for Minn. officer charged in traffic stop shooting death
Closing arguments are set for Monday in the manslaughter trial of a Minnesota police officer charged in the shooting death of a black driver during a traffic stop. Philando Castile was stopped for a broken tail light when officer Jeronimo Yanez fired his gun seven times, hitting Castile with five shots. Barry Petersen reports. Source
President Trump’s bruising week in the White House
On Friday, President Trump responded to former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony from the previous day. Mr. Trump forcefully denied pressuring Comey to drop the Michael Flynn investigation, and said he did not ask for his loyalty. Video shows rescue of woman held by serial killer
Footage released by police in South Carolina shows officers rescuing a woman who spent two months chained inside a storage container. Her captor Todd Kohlhepp confessed last month to killing seven people. Brianna Smith with WSPA-TV has the story. Source
