New jobless claims down slightly after unexpected rise

The number of Americans filing for first-time unemployment benefits fell last week, after unexpectedly spiking just one week before. According to the U.S. Labor Department, 411,000 Americans filed new jobless claims the week ending June 19, a decline of about 7,000.
