Jim Jordan dropped as nominee for House speaker as GOP stalemate continues

After failing to earn a majority on the House floor, Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio was dropped as the nominee for House speaker Friday by the Republican Conference. Nearly three weeks after the historic vote to remove former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Republicans are unable to unify behind a successor. Scott MacFarlane has the latest. Source

Kenneth Chesebro reaches plea deal in Georgia election interference case

Kenneth Chesebro, one of former President Donald Trump’s 18 co-defendants in the Georgia election interference case, agreed Friday as part of a deal with prosecutors to plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit filing false documents. He was sentenced to probation. Trump attorney Sidney Powell took a similar plea deal Thursday. Chesebro is accused of proposing a scheme to appoint alternate electors in an effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Source

Gaza desperately awaits humanitarian aid as Israel prepares for ground war

Along the Gaza Strip’s southern border with Egypt, repairs are underway at the Rafah crossing, as 90 trucks of humanitarian aid wait to get aid in, while foreign passport holders, including U.S. citizens, are waiting to get out. This comes as Israeli forces mass on Gaza’s northern and eastern borders preparing for a ground invasion that has forced more than 600,000 Gazans to evacuate from northern to southern Gaza.
