Long Island murder victim identified as missing woman Karen Vergata

Authorities announced Friday that a Long Island murder victim who was referred to for decades by investigators only as “Jane Doe No. 7,” has been identified as Karen Vergata, a woman who went missing in 1996. Her remains were found in two locations near Gilgo Beach. Officials would not say if serial killing suspect Rex Heuermann is linked to her slaying. Shanelle Kaul reports. Source

Parkland massacre reenacted as part of lawsuit

Ballistic experts on Friday fired up to 139 shots at Parkland’s Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida in a reenactment of the 2018 massacre that claimed the lives of 17 people. The reenactment was part of a lawsuit that accuses a Broward County deputy who was assigned to the school of failing to protect the students. Manuel Bojorquez has details. Source
