Lawyer says Alaska Airlines pilot was not under the influence of intoxicants

A lawyer for an off-duty Alaska Airlines pilot who is accused of trying to shut off a plane’s engines midflight said his client was not under the influence of intoxicants at the time. This comes after the pilot allegedly told officers following his arrest that he had taken psychedelic mushrooms about two days prior to the flight, per court documents. Source

Antisemitic incidents on the rise in weeks after Israel-Hamas war, Anti-Defamation League says

Threats against Jewish, Muslim and Arab communities in the U.S. are on the rise since the start of the Israel-Hamas war. Antisemitic incidents saw a staggering 388% increase, according to numbers released Wednesday by the Anti-Defamation League, while the Council on American Islamic Relations reported nearly 800 anti-Muslim incidents since Oct. 7, the highest in nearly eight years. Otis slams southern Mexico as major hurricane

Otis, which quickly strengthened to a Category 5 hurricane, made landfall off the southern Pacific coast of Mexico early Wednesday, near the resort city of Acapulco. It brought extensive flooding, triggering landslides, and caused major damage to the region. Source
