American Wonders: The “Field of Light”
“CBS This Morning” is launching a new series called “American Wonders.” From majestic natural landscapes to spectacular creations, we’ll explore places that make America wonderful. Set in a hillside in the central California city of Paso Robles is the “Field of Light.” The field is 15 acres, filled with tiny light bulbs of vibrant colors. The Food and Drug administration is launching its first TV ads to fight vaping by teenagers. The FDA’s nearly $60 million initiative, called “The Real Cost,” includes new commercials featuring street magician Julius Dein, who uses tricks to educate teens on the risks of e-cigarettes. “CBS This Morning” consumer investigative national correspondent Anna Werner and CBS News medical contributor Tara Narula discuss the initiative. Massive Equifax payout: Are you eligible for compensation?
After a huge data breach in 2017, credit monitoring agency Equifax agreed to pay out $700 million, up to $425 million of which would establish a fund to compensate consumers. About 147 million people, nearly half of the country’s population, had their personal and financial information exposed. Equifax admits “no wrongdoing,” and a federal court still needs to sign off on the settlement. Just hours after appearing only on CBS This Morning, singer R. Kelly’s crisis manager resigned. In a statement to CBS News, Darrell Johnson said he is stepping down for “personal reasons.” He did not elaborate. on Monday, Johnson made headlines when he said he would not leave his daughter alone with anyone accused of being a pedophile. Kelly is charged with sexually abusing women and girls. Source

Intense storms pound the Northeast
Severe storms slammed the East Coast and brought dangerous flash flooding, as the region cools down from a deadly, record-breaking heat wave. Powerful thunderstorms spread from Tennessee to Rhode Island on Monday. At the height of the storms, more than 325,000 people were without power in the mid-Atlantic region. Don Dahler reports. Source
