Tenaja fire rages through southern California: “They don’t know which way it’s going to go”

Flames from the Tenaja fire are burning dangerously close to homes in California. After tearing through 2,000 acres, the fire is only about 10% contained. Hundreds of homes were threatened when heavy winds kicked up the blaze on Thursday afternoon. Some 800 firefighters, facing 90 degree temperatures, attacked the fire with bulldozers on the ground, and water-dropping helicopters from the air. Carter Evans reports. Source

Taliban talks peace with U.S., but keeps waging war in Afghanistan

An American is among two NATO service members killed in the latest Taliban attack in Afghanistan. The car bomb in Kabul on Thursday killed 12 people and wounded 42 others. It’s part of a string of attacks launched by the Taliban this week, even as the group is reportedly nearing a peace deal with the United States. Charlie D’Agata reports. Source
