For more than 45 years, Neil Peart was both literally and figuratively the backbone of one of rock’s most influential bands. Peart, who died Friday at age 67, was the drummer and chief songwriter for Rush, the Canadian trio that turned out hits like “Tom Sawyer,” “Limelight” and “Fly By Night.” Source
The impact of Australia’s bushfires on wildlife
Nearly 3,000 homes have been damaged or destroyed across Australia due to the brush fires, and there are still more than 100 fires burning across the country’s southeast, including a megablaze the size of Delaware. There’s also an all-out effort to save Australia’s animals impacted by the fires, with grassroots efforts to protect some of the country’s unique wildlife. Iran admits responsibility in shootdown of Ukrainian jetliner
After days of denials, and under mounting international pressure, the Iranian government now says its armed forces unintentionally shot down a Ukrainian jetliner this week, killing everyone on board. At a briefing this morning, the head of Iran’s air defenses said “human error at a time of crisis caused by U.S. adventurism” caused the Ukrainian Airlines jet to be mistaken for a hostile target. Severe Midwest weather blamed for at least 3 deaths
A fast-moving storm is bringing dangerous weather to more than 30 million Americans, and has already been blamed for at least three deaths in Louisiana.
