“Mobituaries”: “Drink to Thomas Paine!”

Alexander Hamilton isn’t the only American Revolutionary figure to be feted by Broadway composers. As a special treat in his podcast “Mobituaries,” Mo Rocca enlisted Tony-nominees Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin to pen a drinking song, “Drink to Thomas Paine!,” which was performed at the New York City piano bar Marie’s Crisis, which stands on the very site of Paine’s death in 1809. Rodney Reed’s family prays SCOTUS will hear his case

A death row inmate in Texas could learn Friday whether the U.S. Supreme Court will hear his case. Rodney Reed is scheduled to be executed in five days for the rape and murder of 19-year-old Stacey Stiles back in 1996, but he has a wide range of supporters saying he’s innocent. Former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine to testify in Day 2 of public hearings

Day 2 of the public hearings in the House impeachment inquiry begin Friday with the testimony of former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch. President Trump removed her in May and two months later, speaking to Ukraine’s president, he described her as “bad news” and warned she was “going to go through some things.” Nancy Cordes reports on what to expect at the hearing.
