Trump claims coronavirus is “receding,” despite surge in cases

A day after Coronavirus Task Force coordinator Dr. Deborah Birx said the coronavirus is now “extraordinarily widespread,” President Trump contradicted her, claiming “evidence of progress.” “Very encouraging,” he said at a news conference Monday. “I have to add that the virus is receding.” However, while some states are seeing a decrease in daily cases, in many others, the cases are surging.
