Defense bill passes House after “ugly” fight, will likely fail in Senate

The House has narrowly passed the annual defense bill with lawmakers voting mostly along party lines, 219 to 210. The package includes a number of controversial amendments, including a ban on the Pentagon covering travel expenses for service members seeking abortions.
